Donut Drive-In

Welcome back, and thank you for joining us on this third installment of Carry-out Comedy, or what we will henceforth be hashtagging as, Takeout Tuesday (comedy is all about timing). Had to switch it up for this edition and explore a new meal (comedy is also all about range), so we set out on a quest to get breakfast at Donut Drive-In, on the corner of Chippewa and Watson Road. Having grown up nearby on Winnebago street, this is a space we have been patronizing (the good kind of patronizing, not the condescending one) for 30 years. We went with a Vanilla Sprinkle Donut, Chocolate Long John with sprinkles (and a smiley face!), Jelly-filled sugar donut, and a caramel pecan cinnamon swirl, with a chocolate milk to drink. The donuts were spectacular, 10/10 as always. As far as the carry-out experience goes, it's hard to beat this place during quarantine, or any occasion for that matter. They have a space outside for picking up orders (get them in by 4pm the previous day), or you can just walk in and choose from what they have (which is more than enough, we promise). It really is the picture-perfect donut shop, with the best location you could imagine on historic Route 66. We could write about this place all day but we do not do enough donut jokes, and we can tell you are starting to get fed up with this hole business, so we are going to end our transmission here. Peace!
