The Gramophone

Ahoy mateys! Thanks for pausing the sea shanties and joining us for our 19th installment of #CarryoutComedy! Today's episode has us back in The Grove to try some of the best, if not the best, sandwiches in the St. Louis area at The Gramophone. What used to be an intimate concert club, has now since transitioned to a late-nite sandwich pub that will feature live music and DJ's fairly often (check out the schedule on their website for upcoming shows). We started our mission by perusing the menu on the website, a task made more tedious by the fact that they have so many freaking good sandwiches to choose from (thank goodness for the ½ sandwich option). We finally landed on the Alcatraz and the Mississippi Nights Club; the right choice (fun fact: there are no wrong choices here). The Alcatraz was like being locked in a jail cell where your taste buds are being constantly assaulted by the slow roasted beef, swiss, provel, and caramelized onion gang that runs the institution; while the Mississippi Nights Club was like listening to an unlikely ensemble of turkey, beef, and bacon put together a magical performance that had the audience (our tastebuds) giving them standing ovations all night. We definitely miss being able to dine in and actually hang out at the Gram (apparently, what all the cool kids are calling it now), but those times are just around the corner. Thank you for accommodating everyone's needs during the pandemic, we really appreciate all of the effort to keep us all safe and healthy. Peace!
