Salt + Smoke

How's it going, everybody? We have returned from our intergalactic travels for the 7th edition of Carryout-Comedy! TONiTE, we will be reviewing one of our favorite restaurants in town, Salt + Smoke; our 1st BBQ establishment (can't believe it took us this long), and 2nd with math in the title. We decided to hit up the new(er) Hampton location to see if things were running as smoothly there as at their original location in the Loop (spoiler alert: they are as smooth as Santana feat. Rob Thomas). To start, we sneaked a peek at the online menu and went with the Burnt End Toasted Ravs, Brisket Sandwich, and White Cheddar Cracker Mac. If you're looking for leftovers, you're out of luck, pal (btw, pal is a pretty funny word, now that we think about it. We looked up the etymology, and its origins come from the Angloromani pal or phal, which means brother or mate. So when you say pal, you are actually saying the 17th century version of 'bro'). Oops, sorry for spacing out again! We really enjoyed all of the food, especially the Burnt End Toasted Ravs; when St. Louis and Kansas City's best foods team up, the results can truly be celestial. We missed out on the bourbon this time, but we will be back for more BBQ ASAP. Thank you for all of your hard work, creativity, and dedication to the STL area in staying open during the pandemic, you are a shining light in the darkness that this last year or so has been. We really appreciate it, and will see you again soon. Peace!
